Even though I think Nastradamus was a good album, this was an album Nas had to rush to record. Alot of people don't know I Am... was supposed to be a double disc, but alot of the tracks had leaked like Poppa Was a Playa, Fetus (Belly Button Window) and Project Windows, so he dropped I Am (most tracks on there didn't leak) and then he had to record Nastradamus to drop later that year which essentially would have been the rest of I Am..

Nastradamus would've been a cool album...for another rapper.

For Nas, in '98-'99, shyt was wild lackluster. His mixtape joints at the time, including the original I Am bootleg that ran through NYC, showed that dude was on another level. So for him to drop that shyt, he threw cats off. Questlove calls that the "music self saboteur" shyt. Nas kinda fell off the deep end for a couple years.

All of the tracks on The Lost Tapes were going to be on the original I Am...

If that album dropped the way it was supposed to :lupe:
