I'm going to be honest...
I hate when there's a start & end date. If you're going to do something, just do it ASAP whenever possible.
No spending on Thanksgiving...but you're in the clear for Xmas? You want to see a difference? extend this the full holiday season including Valentine's Day.
With SNAP, layoffs, etc. It should be easy to hold off on discretionary spending & build up an emergency fund

The issue when people protest like this is:
Ramping up - stocking up on the things you think you may need, which may lead to overspending
Rebound - buying the things you missed + other items which may again lead to overspending
And the sad part about the above is, people will patronize the same places they're supposed to boycott, which cancels everything out.
