What I said about this on DAPcity:
-----------------------------

I'm going to be honest...

I hate when there's a start & end date. If you're going to do something, just do it ASAP whenever possible.

No spending on Thanksgiving...but you're in the clear for Xmas? You want to see a difference? extend this the full holiday season including Valentine's Day.

With SNAP, layoffs, etc. It should be easy to hold off on discretionary spending & build up an emergency fund

Part 2

The issue when people protest like this is:

Ramping up - stocking up on the things you think you may need, which may lead to overspending

Rebound - buying the things you missed + other items which may again lead to overspending

And the sad part about the above is, people will patronize the same places they're supposed to boycott, which cancels everything out.

That's just my view on things :yeshrug:

We’re fighting economic inequality by *checks notes* not going to work and making an income? Sounds logical…
You can tell these people don't actually verbalize their ideas. Fighting economic inequality by suspending your income sounds stupid as hell out loud :heh:

Not possible

You don’t work. You don’t get paid.

I feel it but don’t think it’s realistic :francis:

Never understood the we’re not going to do whatever for whatever amount of time than go right back to doing what we was doing in the first place

Don’t make a timetable where there’s a end do it until your goal is complete

And No Streaming :gucci: the easiest thing to do is cancel paid streaming services

Y’all let me know how that goes.

:comeon:

Not that I’m pro bullshyt, but I’m not about to be stuck in the house with nothing going on or risk income to go right back the way shyt is eventually.

If Covid and the BLM movement didn’t show y’all how these corporations operate, then you’re stupid or you weren’t paying attention. Even when they “change” and go with all the DEI shyt, it’s temporary and only for as long as they need to. It’s not sincere and it’s not a societal change. It’s marketing and gimmicks. I got so tired of “[insert brand] cares” commercials.

Idk if this is a good idea tbh.

That's what the Legal Mexicans told the Illegal Mexicans when they said they were going on a similar boycott during the Bush 2 era.

And brehs. You do realize that the start and end date Covers Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The 2 biggest spending days of the year. It's gonna fukk up a lot of businesses' balance sheets and stocks. That's why they are doing this. Most people will be off, most people will be spending on their off days. But if they're not spending and suddenly 90% of the workforce caught the flu, those businesses, revenue, and earnings report are gonna tank. And they aren't gonna risk that.

If anything, this is strategic and smart.
