The U.S. Navy has raised its maximum age for general enlistment from 39 to 41, after the U.S. military saw historic struggles with recruiting in the 2022 fiscal year and signs of continued struggles ahead.

Navy Times first reported on the new enlistment age cutoff on Monday. The updated age limit went into effect last week.

Prior to this change, the Navy’s general enlistment cutoff age was 39 and sailors had to report to boot camp before their 40th birthday. Under the new change, recruits must now report to boot camp before their 42nd birthday.

Better downsize your overbudgeted military United States DOD.

I am guessing supersoldiers in the near future to make up the deficit.
No need for soldiers when you can convince your enemy to kill each other by overloading them with propaganda, fear, misinformation and encouraging their prejudices.

You're seeing it real time in America. You're seeing what the CIA would do in South America in the 60s-90s being done to us right now. We've already got armed factions barking and ready to go and doing stochastic terrorist attacks.

All China, Russia, etc. Have to do is kick back and enjoy the show. In a post-nuclear world, it's too risky to declare war using conventional arms because even if you nuke your enemy to win, you've now "won" a nuclear wasteland. No crops, no minerals without risk of radiation poisoning, no people you could use as cheap or unpaid labor. In a civil war however, the combatants both want to control the country, so nukes are less likely to be used. You wait until the factions have exhausted each other and the one that wins will be too weak to repel a serious invasion force with drones and AI controlled or remotely controlled robots.

People are realizing that it isn’t worth fighting pointless wars with third world countries just so we can exploit their people, land and natural resources.
The military is a good come up but people have seen too many BS wars the US started to take the risk.
