For everyone who doesn't know or doesn't understand the fuss about general Lee, Here's a really good expose
He wasn't the romantic general that Southerners try to paint him as, it's all a a facade to slip White Supremacy through

The Myth of the Kindly General Lee

But even if one conceded Lee’s military prowess, he would still be responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans in defense of the South’s authority to own millions of human beings as property because they are black. Lee’s elevation is a key part of a 150-year-old propaganda campaign designed to erase slavery as the cause of the war and whitewash the Confederate cause as a noble one. That ideology is known as the Lost Cause, and as historian David Blight writes, it provided a “foundation on which Southerners built the Jim Crow system.”

Lee’s cruelty as a slavemaster was not confined to physical punishment. In Reading the Man, the historian Elizabeth Brown Pryor’s portrait of Lee through his writings, Pryor writes that “Lee ruptured the Washington and Custis tradition of respecting slave families,” by hiring them off to other plantations, and that “by 1860 he had broken up every family but one on the estate, some of whom had been together since Mount Vernon days.” The separation of slave families was one of the most unfathomably devastating aspects of slavery, and Pryor wrote that Lee’s slaves regarded him as “the worst man I ever see.”

The trauma of rupturing families lasted lifetimes for the enslaved—it was, as my colleague Ta-Nehisi Coates described it, “a kind of murder.” After the war, thousands of the emancipated searched desperately for kin lost to the market for human flesh, fruitlessly for most. In Reconstruction, the historian Eric Foner quotes a Freedmen’s Bureau agent who notes of the emancipated, “in their eyes, the work of emancipation was incomplete until the families which had been dispersed by slavery were reunited.”

Lee’s heavy hand on the Arlington plantation, Pryor writes, nearly led to a slave revolt, in part because the enslaved had been expected to be freed upon their previous master’s death, and Lee had engaged in a dubious legal interpretation of his will in order to keep them as his property, one that lasted until a Virginia court forced him to free them

I'm still wondering how white people are mad at us. You brought us here and you've been the ONLY ones to benefit from our association. Why exactly are you mad at me about?
those still mad are mostly the dumb and poor ones.. those taught to have a common enemy other than the government that is fukking them over.

in reality.. they should unite with the ones they hate to elect a leader that will help them all but instead.. they elect the leader that has the same "views" as them

reminds me a lot of the DR and their hate for haitians.

The hilarious thing about all this, is the hypocrisy. For example, in britain, (not sure about the US) families that owned slaves were compensated for setting them free.

YES. SLAVEOWNERS GOT REPARATIONS! :merchant:

Let that sink in for a minute.

Slaveowners got reparations. Yet they laugh at us when we ask for the same thing.:stopitslime:

Smh. The same government that "freed" us, made it ok to discriminate against us post freedom. LEGALLY kept us from housing and jobs and stood idly by while the KKK burned down our businesses, homes and land that we did manage to acquire for ourselves.

Not to sound insensitive, but I'm starting to see in these crowds of protest against white supremacist a lot of non blacks and I'm ok with that. Let them get run over by cars, maced and whatever else. Our people have been through that and there is no need for us to go there again. We haven't done anything wrong for them to be mad at us and there is nothing we can do. Now its time we link up economically. Buying up homes collectively, starting businesses and just investing back into the hoods we like to abandon once we get on. That is never expected of us but we can most certainly do it.

Yea, if they had some rational, well thought out reason to hate it probably could've been worked out by now :francis:

The fact of the matter now is, like these other brehs stated, they've been conditioned to hate by their leadership.

Artificially stirring up fear in supporters is clearly an effective leadership technique in the short term. However, in the long term it has horrible unintended consequences, which we are seeing now. :ld:

Even though I voted for Clinton (which I regret), Hillary won the popular vote and the electoral college chose code orange. I blame this fukked up country, not the people.

That system has been in place for hundreds of years. The opportunity to beat him was in November at the voting booth. You regret voting for Hillary after all this? Only thing you ought to regret is not encouraging a friend or 10 friends to do the same.
