2K17 lowkey sort of looks like Live though.
But Live is trash and will always be trash.

But Live is trash and will always be trash.

had to make it its on thread.
from someone who played the nba 2k17 demo
for one. I told yall NBA elite by far had the MOST realistic shooting/dribbling mechanics ever in a basketball game. i said mechanics not graphics. it was so realistic. it scared the daylights out of most players.
To get good at shooting/layups you would have to practice like a real basketball player. it was that difficult. I know this because i use to play with that demo like crazy.
oh by the way. you notice in nba 2k16 how the sweet spot gets larger the closer you get to the basket and the better the player can shoot. welp...that came from ELITE as well. I've always said they had the right idea just didnt execute it properly. now 2k17 has it in the game but they still allow people to use the button for shooting. which completely defeats the purpose. They did this because they remember the reaction ELITE got to the all or non right stick being your hands and no buttons allowed approach.
Lets take a look at some old footage. (imagine intentionally missing a freethrow to the left but hard off the rim to give your teammate a chance at the rebound for a game winning bucket. you had that kind of control in ELITE.
lol at pre mvp steph.
now again some people want to know what benefit will you have of using the stick vs the button? well you will be able to move the shot left or right to avoid the defense. now granted doing so will make your shot less likely to go in. but at least you can get it off every single time if you choose the right direction every single time. but here's the issue with this. can the defender move his shot blocking arm right or less also? if not then this is only a partial fix. lastly, if you push the button it will still move but the computer will decide to move or not to move it for you. so instead of it being up to you its up to the cpu/algorithms. I think if 2k is scared of the casuals getting upset. they should make it so that you can play in two types of games. simulation or non simulation. non simulation. you can use whatever controls you want. in simulation you have to use the stick to shoot, it wont even allow you to use a button. and thats for any mode.
here's the thing. 2k has always been a fighting game. thats actually what i didnt/dont like about it. as opposed to how elite 11 was SUPPOSED to be.Yeah, it's obvious they're setting up for competitive play. 2K is about to become Street Fighter.
nba live has been trash for years now. thats not the point of the video or the thread. pay attentionAll I heard during that whole clip was..."but they got the real shoes tho...."
NBA Live will always be trash
Yeap the herky jerky movements killed EA. Ive said that about 2k people overlook it because it looks betterhere's the thing. 2k has always been a fighting game. thats actually what i didnt/dont like about it. as opposed to how elite 11 was SUPPOSED to be.
meaning the one thing nba live or elite has always had on 2k was the dribbling. the dribbling in live is as close to 1:1 as i've ever seen. for those dont understand what i'm saying. it means when you have the ball in your left hand in nba live or elite... and you want to cross over to your right hand. just tape the right analog to the right. the speed at which the crossover works is much faster than 2k's. every dribble move you do in 2k is slightly lagging behind your actual controller input.
this is why i see 2k as a fighting game with his dribbling controls.
you can chain moves together like fighting game combos. which are cool for classic fighting games. but i dont like that either if i wanted a new fighting game experience thats more about stick skills. not just memorizing combo moves. but actually memorizing and having to know exactly when to click each direction like real life.
no one tells themselves i'm going to hit this guy with the hessi, cross, then around the back, then spin.
thats not how you play basketball. if a guy is on one side of you shading. go hard to the other side. if he starts to cut you off. you may do a snatch back dribble. but thats hard to do at the moment in 2k. because 2k moves are delayed.
the size up moves arent even you doing it. its you pushing a one button combo like a fighting game with the easy difficulty on. yall know what i'm talking about.
this is why dudes can spam the curry, crawford, and kyrie size up moves like its nothing.
you can't do that in live or elite. to do those moves. you had to actually.... DO THOSE MOVES with the sticks. and if you knew what you were doing. you would kill your defender. because its happening in real time.
not slightly delayed. where you input the moves then watch them take place like 2k.
i dont think this will ever change for 2k. since they are so animation heavy and they are more so into making a game LOOK like real life than actually PLAYING like real life. if it looks legit then even when the player looses control and the guy does something you didnt expect. if it looks cool you'll give it a pass. or if others are watching you play or someone is watching a trailer/demo. then he/she will think "WOW THAT LOOKS REAL". and they will buy the game. lastly. because of how much hate EA got for the last few years when they tried to go with a more realistic movement based on physics and not just 1000's of animation scenarios . 2k is afraid to go that route of real physics and every move being a one off move so anything chained together has to be you doing it all.
