SMF and LAX to VA and NC

The criteria he used to justify his list is really strong, too. For those who aren't gonna read the article:

Looking at the NBA's relatively non-controversial list of 50 Greatest Players from 1996, it included:

  • Every MVP but Bob McAdoo
  • Every nine-time All-Star but Dominique Wilkins
  • Every six-time All-NBA selection but Wilkins
  • Every three-time top-five MVP finisher but McAdoo and Wilkins
  • Every face of a championship team (post-BAA/NBL merger) but Bob Davies and Dennis Johnson
  • All but four Finals MVPs (Johnson, Jo Jo White, Cedric Maxwell, Joe Dumars)
  • All but four top-40 all-time scorers (Wilkins, Alex English, Adrian Dantley, Walt Bellamy)
  • Everyone with at least 100 win shares and 11 playoff win shares but Maurice Cheeks
  • Everyone who averaged 34 combined points, rebounds and assists in the playoffs for a championship team but Neil Johnston and Tommy Heinsohn
  • All but five players with a Player Efficiency Rating greater than 20 and a playoff PER greater than 19 (George Yardley, Bob Lanier, Marques Johnson, Kevin Johnson and Dan Issel)
Can't argue with results...

the 9 missing from the 50 are
Elgin Baylor
Dave Bing
Billy Cunningham
Dave Debusschere
Pete Maravich
Earl Monroe
Shaquille O'Neal
Dolph Schayes
Lenny Wilkens

Not going to lie in my opinion only 4 of those names should be locks Shaq,Pete,Elgin, and Earl, Nique need to replace one of those others.

The only think he didn't take into account was defensive teams...but his analysis was based on OG 50 anyway so...but that still leaves GP & Deke off...who may both be on 75. GP is for sure

They will probably all make it. Let's say they do.. that leaves room for 16 new names.. Shouldn't The Glove be added this time??
I think there are 9 locks. The last 7 spots will be a blood bath. I don't see how Dominique doesn't get in unless someone like McGrady jumps him.

Locks
Lebron
Wade
Kobe
Steph Curry
Russell Westbrook
Jason Kidd
Ray Allen
Paul Pierce
Kawhi Leonard

Not sure
Ginobili
Carmelo
Dwight
Dominique
Pau Gasol
Dame Lilliard
Anthony Davis
Tony Parker
Tracy Mcgrady
Chris Webber
Vince Carter

I would put Parker and Vince Carter over Paul Pierce and Kawhi and maybe Ray Allen

the lack of a championship kills Vince and Mcgrady from jumping guys like PP and Ray Allen
That’s where it gets tough I think Vince based on his prime and longevity is better than PP and maybe Ray. Ray is tough because Prime Ray was a beast too…. Real talk KG the only guy from that Celtics squad who I think unquestionably deserves the nod.
