There are only 430 NBA jobs available, roughly 1 billion people around the world play basketball, why is it so hard to accept that the cream of the crop gets paid well. Teams scour the globe to find players, if dudes are getting paid out the ass so be it.

the money needs to be distributed properly

if anthony davis makes 28 mil a year, demarre carroll shouldnt make 15

for demarre to be "worth" 15, anthony davis should be making 45-60

the guys who generate the revenue are underpaid

the no name role players are damn near making the same money as the guys who make the nba profitable in the first place

Less movement and trades as teams can bring back their players and they can't sign for more elsewhere. This is stupid and unfair for a player. You mean to tell me Lebron wants to play for Africa but he gets paid less if he leaves to sign with them. Total bullshyt.
Bird rights have been going on forever u dumb fukk

Ideally the stars should be able to make uncapped money, but the players union has to look out for everyone and not just the big guns.

It's tough to wrap your head around tho

Biggest headscratcher so far?

Probably chandler for me, he's probably got two good seasons and left (and even during those he probably plays no more than 65 games a year)

Cause of max contracts. But they're not going to go anywhere. The players union wouldn't get rid of them, the only players who would benefit from no max contracts are the superstars.

Cause having max contracts means more money to go around for the Jarrett Jack's & Brandon Bass's of the NBA world. And there's more of those than LeBron's & KD's

He's one of those high character guys, in addition to being 7 feet tall, they will almost always get paid more than they should.

Feel like 3 years with the 3rd year being a player option could have gotten it done

Who else was bidding on him? I figured he was getting pursued heavily yet everybody thought he was either gonna stay in Dallas or if Dallas got Jordan, he'd go over in a sign and trade cause clippers would have no other leverage to get a big

I've always been a believer of this too but on the other hand every team does need these role players. We can agree that nobody is really paying to see them but they are part of why the game is beautiful, why it works.. You couldn't throw LeBron James out there with 4 fat white guys off the street and have it be nearly as entertaining. It'd be funny for a few minutes and then after a guy bricks his 12th FG attempt in a row it's time to :camby:

that's cool for regular workers who have to make a decent wage to live....but these guys are millionaires, they don't need to be "saved". without the big guns none of these guys are getting crazy bread because nobody is watching the nba like that.

you've got role players who are good at 1 or 2 things making 80% of what guys like lebron and durant make.....that's not capitalism.

i agree with everything you said.....but they don't sell tickets and most of them are easily replaced. there's no reason for these guys to make as much as players who dominate on the court AND sell tickets.

This salary increase is horrible for the game. Players are receiving contracts on an outrageous level (not worth it) and getting paid like baseball players. The league that we use to love regarding trades and free agent signing is no-more and this benefit small market teams the most.

People said the same thing in the late 80s when Hot Rod Williams was the highest paid player at 5 Mill. The league survived then and will survive these salaries as well.

It will survive but just like the owners want. You won't see another Lebron fiasco or Shaquille leaving Orlando again.
