and if you postpone the season only to try to start the next one at its regular time, a bad team would just shut anyone important down so they can get all the rest they need, putting good teams at a disadvantage

Idk about this. If media and reporters that travel aren't monitored who is to say who can contract this and spread it? Plus the players themselves aren't contained 24/7. This situation is totally uncontrolled, the NBA would be smart to cancel the games outright until this gets in order.
