What is this...1984? :mjlol:

Its very simple...do a true lottery. Teams that just missed the playoffs got the same odds as the horrible teams. Put 14 ping pong balls in the machine and call it live on TV as each ball comes out. Also put in a mechanism that says you cant have the top pick in back to back years. I would go further and say a decade.

2 teams in the finals get the last two picks in the first round. every other team gets equal odds in the lottery and i'd draw for every pick 1 to 28. theres no incentive to ever lose. theres the drawback of a really bad team getting bad luck in the lottery and drafting late but even under the current system youre not guaranteeing the best players go to the teams who most need them. charlotte last made the playoffs in 2016. the odds for bad teams to get the no.1 pick and turnaround quickly are reduced but you also dont have teams purposely making themselves as bad as possible to get increased odds.

you wont have teams at the bottom tanking on purpose the whole season, you wont have teams purposely missing the playoffs, and you wont see teams throwing games. no fan should ever want their team to lose, its unnatural, unless they want the coach to be fired in which case thats perfectly normal.

that's going to make it worse. now ur gonna have 14+ teams actively tanking. now u got teams that are fighting for the play in instead of a 1% chance to win the lottery. if u give them the same odds, teams aren't going to even bother to be a play in team if they can have equal odds to win the lottery.

Just go by record and put a rule blocking consecutive top 4 slots
They should do it like MLB does.

I disagree that teams shouldn't be b2b, I think every team deserves two bad years. After that im fine with locked out of top 5 for a year or so. The lottery system hurts rebuilding , look at the jazz they been bad for years due to it, the bulls have been mediocre primarily due to the system. You either bottom out completely or become treadmill

But they get no benefit from tanking. So they are tanking just to tank and running the risk of getting the last lotto pick as well. At least with this system there is no incentive to be ass.

And if you really wanna push it, I say weigh it in favor of the mid teams. That guarantees that everybody is trying to at least be competitive.

Even if you bottom out and you're just a bad team, there's no guaranteed help with the lottery system. Just look at the Wizards.

Imagine where the Pistons would be today if they didn't get the #1 pick to draft Cade Cunningham.

Should not even have a lottery to begin with. I wish there was a pyramid system where we can have the shyttiest teams go down to a lower league. Let continual losers suffer or make them sell the team.

As long as you have a better chance to get a high draft pick for being a loser, then it will keep happening.

Yea thats my overall gripe with this anti tanking and the lottery system. Just because you pick top 3 doesn't necessarily mean that player will live up to its potential. Imo the nba is doing too much, if teams feel the best way to improve is to tank let them. You already have awards tied to games played anyway

Just look how bad the Kings were during their 16 year playoff drought. The best pick they got was 2 and they royally screwed that up. You have to draft well obviously but where you're drafting matters.

You can say they should have taken so and so but those players wouldn't have the same career if they got taken by the Kings. Where you get drafted to matters as well.

Some organizations are just bad. It sucks for Sacramento because they have some of the best fans in the NBA.
