NBA doing way too much the rules are perfect the way they are. If teams haven’t learned by now tanking doesn’t gurantee a top 3 picks that’s on them if they want to take the risk

Last years nba draft lottery was rigged for sure. Silver, the lakers and the mavericks had a three way handshake agreement together . Lakers got Luka, in return the mavs got the first overall pick ( great white American hope cooper Flagg) and silver made sure that there will be a star that will be in LA on the lakers after bron eventually retires.

Every year this conversation gets had. Nothing is gonna change at the root of it because the top end talent is very rare and the overall pool of talent is really shallow.
It always comes back to this idea that teams simply can't be bad. They also have to not be trying either. It's mostly in the NBA where this gets determined.
The Giants and Raiders are gonna play this weekend and neither fanbase wants their team to win. Meanwhile everyone gets mad when we tell a team to blow it up and then they do everything they can to do just that.

I don't think there is anything the league can do to prevent a team from creating the greatest odds to draft high in a lottery. I wouldn't worry about the tanking
What I would do is not worry about the tanking and worry about keeping the interest during the entirety of the season. What I would do is get rid of that goofy ass in season tournament and do somewhat of a "NIT" type tournament for all the teams that didn't make the playoffs. I know that is somewhat what the play in is supposed to be but I would just create a tournament for all the teams that missed the playoffs outside the top 8. To make it more interesting I would remove conferences so we could see like the bulls play the kings in a 5 game series. Would create a crap load of revenue for the franchises and the league.
Then whoever wins that tournament, wins the lottery. Then do a draft lottery for everyone else 2-14

the fact that dallas, the spurs, AND the sixers got into the top 5 at all was insane

Just make a tournament for the top 2 picks with the teams that don't make the play in.
Winner gets no. 1
Loser gets no. 2
Losers of the semis play for 3 and the loser gets 4
Then go from there.

bruh if the whole team is injured then a "just play harder" tournament isn't going to mean much
