ESPN's comment board is going bananas on this.

"Anthony Davis, sponsored by Angry Birds"

"Chris Bosh sponsored by Jurassic Park"

"Brian Scalabrine brought to you by White Out"

"Delonte West, sponsored by Gloria James" :lolbron:

"The Milwaukee Bucks sponsored by...............no one" :dead:

This is ridiculous. He already tried this with the WNBA, and it looks trashy. There is no need for this. Stern is been ruining things for the past 5 plus years now. I don't want to watch basketball & see a fukking state farm logo on Durant's jersey.

Stern knew this wouldn't fly he didn't even let the board vote on this, greedy b*stard :smh:

While no vote was taken on putting advertisements on jerseys for the first time, the discussion in the ballroom inside the Encore hotel on the Strip showed a strong preference to move forward, deputy commissioner Adam Silver said. The final decision will likely come in an e-mail vote in September and be implemented for 2013-14, giving teams the chance to line up sponsors and uniform makers the time to add the patch of 2 ½ inches-by-2 ½ inches just above the heart.

“My sense is that every team would do this in some form,” Silver said, indicating the mass support for the idea that has been years in coming, not to mention the mass support for the $100 million annually he estimates would be generated with the new revenue stream.

Its a GREAT idea if they do it tastefully unlike Nascar.

I'm for anything that brings in more money to the league therefore for owners therfore for players

but...they both get paid plentiful?

id agree with you if i honestly felt one side deserved more money, and this was a way to make more revenue. but i dont think thats the case.

ads on jerseys look trashy to me end of story. 10 years ago i used to applaud the major sports in the US for not doing this like the top clubs in europe. no matter how "classy" they make it sound like it will be, in due time that 2.5x2.5 patch turns into massive fukking advertisements all over the jerseys.

if this happens theres nothing i can do about it. but i will refuse to buy jerseys with ads on it for as long as i can. why would i...as a consumer...buy a product thats advertising for a fast food company or whatever?

i can see them making a ton a money not only from the sponsors, but jersey sales.

example: one year the heat are sponsored by Gillette and you cop that jersey. they change up the sponsor to McDonalds, you buy the new jersey with the new sponsor...
