You don’t have to trade Wemby or the first round as he’s a valuable asset on a cheap rookie contract especially in this age where salaries are steadily increasing.

The option is there to keep or move. Let’s not act like extra first round picks aren’t important to teams out here especially contenders.

Ask Milwaukee about it and see what they see.
This aint 2K...he needs room to grow and make mistakes. A vet squad tryna win a chip aint got time for all that. You either going for that chip or rebuilding around the new dude...cant do both. Most teams are gonna take the cheaper route with less immediate pressure...bye vet star :heh:

Depending on how high the pick is you won’t. You’re speaking as if the pick would automatically be the first pick or top 5.

You’re going to motivate players and teams more with a first round lottery pick instead of an automatic playoff spot which would make the rest management issues worse for the teams that win.

so do these games count as part of your team's season record?
Yes, Silver wants it to be lock euro football, but in reality it's the early season tournaments in college basketball

trades, waiver wire, etc. change things up by then too.

I'm just strictly talking about the winning team getting into the lottery with the odds to move up and potentially get the #1 or top 5 pick or even just a lottery pick at all.

It's definitely a motivator for a superstar player like KD, Bron or even Jokic. Those superstar players may not want to play with rookies, but if that's the logic they want to go by then they need to give up bread to prevent it from happening.

The shyt is already happening now anyways with teams like Denver, Memphis and even the Lakers, so why not get a potentially pick out of it instead of a lower tier one to help fill out the bench.

You get the NBA cup:ufdup:no different than Carabao lol
Carabao works because there's different teams (teams from all divisions across england)... so it's basically a new league.

Here, the in season tournament is still the same fukking teams, with the same regular season schedule, with no affect on standings, draft position, or playoffs :heh: so it's worthless

Yes. Teams eliminated face each other to flesh out their schedule. Only the finalists will wind up playing an 83rd game. Silver & the tv partners have done a terrible job explaining it all.

There are alot of interesting ideas and alot of ones that need work. The biggest thing is that there is no really good idea that everyone can agree on.

I dont like the automatic home court in 1st round thing. No reason why the 25 win Hornets, Rockets or Wizards should get home court over a 50 win team who would have been 4th in the conference (Cavs were 4th in East last year with 51 wins). There is no reason for teams to even try the last 60 games on the season if they know they already have a playoff spot wrapped up.

The best idea yet would be a bump in wins for your season total (maybe 3-5 wins). This way you still have to try the rest of the season in order to move up in the standings, and you get rewarded for this NBA Cup win (At 3 wins, the Lakers last year would have went from 7th to 5th, or the Thunder would have been 7th and with 2 home play in games to get into the playoffs instead of 2 road games)

Lets give it a year and see how the teams treat it. People hated the play in idea and I think that has worked out fine.

Lol this is exactly how they probably will treat it

Just use it as games to give young guys and bench players some PT, and they'll only really care once it gets to the last few rounds
