Carabao works because there's different teams (teams from all divisions across england)... so it's basically a new league.

Here, the in season tournament is still the same fukking teams, with the same regular season schedule, with no affect on standings, draft position, or playoffs so it's worthless

yeah it should be a separate single elimination tournament with no round robins....even add in the euroleague teams.

Seriously, teams are playing a 82 game regular season to fight for the playoffs but you want to give an automatic playoff spot for winning an extra game 20 games into the season

These are regular season games. The wins and loses count against your record just as they would for any other game during the season. They already mean what they mean toward the outcome of your season. There's shouldn't be any reason to provide any extra incentives for something that could happen when you win the games any other way. Rebranding them as a tournament changes nothing.

They could've achieved the same thing by making you play your conference/division rivals multiple times in a row. None of these gimmicks are going to change the way the players react to them. They thought team captains picking squads for All-Star games would bring back that competitive spirit. Those just keep going downhill.

Here's how I would set this NBA Cup up if it's gonna only contain NBA teams.

First...I would cut the season down to 60 games. Within those 60 game, teams would only play competition within their own conference. Divisional rivals will play 4 games equaling out to 20 division games. Rest of the games would be home & away with conference rivals, meaning total, there'd be 40 non-divisional games.

Then the NBA Cup would work as the inter-conference matches. Each group would be made up of random non-divisional teams from both conferences. Then I'd have the Cup final take place on ASW. Replace the ASG with the cup final but still have all the regular weekend activities except the ASG and Rooks v Sophomores. Let that weekend be about players showing personality with interviews and etc.
