The Tournament could be good if they had International teams since the games are being played in "neutral" stadium. It could be good because the EX NBAers or foreigners would want to shiit on the NBA teams. The NBA teams still probably wouldn't care, until they started getting shiited on by Euro's and dudes out of the league.

Do every team in the tournament play the same number of games? If not, I'd purposely lose if I was one of the title contenders and save the wear/tear.
During the single elimination stage in December the other teams still play each other.

Nah. They should move to a point system. Regular season game wins count as 1 point. In season tourney knockout wins count as 2 points. But make the in season tourney later in the season, leading into all star break.

Total points at the end of the season determines who makes playoffs and seeding. Use W/L records to decide tie breakers as usual.

This is a horrible idea for numerous reasons.
But mainly because some stars will play once every 2 weeks if they know they have a playoff spot lol

Also, you shouldnt make da playoffs for winning which are still considered regular season games in fukking november :mjlol: 🤣

1. Any team that wins this tournament is a playoff team already.

2. Why would you give a lottery pick to one of the better teams in the league?

League wants people to tune in to their nationally televised games before Christmas, so they're trying to get everybody on board from fans to players to executives to not slack off in the 1st 2 months. Incentives are the only way to make this really work.

I personally don't think an automatic playoff spot means anything to players nowadays bc if ur a bad team, a playoff shot isn't going to mean much

Giving a playoff spot for this cheap tournament winner would be a horrible idea.

You play 82 games and no one should be given a playoff spot early in the season. Even the biggest title contenders have to earn their spot through same games like everyone else :mjlol:

Even a play in spot would be ridiculous.

Imagine a marathon and early on the runners are given mini game to run a short distance and whoever wins it gets to skip half of a marathon and go from where most of participants are dead tired.

I'd award the winning team with a multi-use $20M Player Exception that can function as a TPE and like the Mid Level Exception. This way, the winner would have more money available to outbid a team with the standard Mid Level Exception for a buyout candidate who might otherwise sign with a Finals favorite.
Only problem with that is buyout candidates have never really moved the needle like that outside of a few players here and there. You also won't necessarily need the mid level exception to do it as teams will typically just cover the difference of what said player gave up from his former team.

The Player Exception is a different story though and could work.
