NBA Defenses - Changing the Game

Pretty cool video has been posted on youtube recently, it shows you how today's zone defense limits the superstar dominance, in other words making the team scoring up and making individual stars working on their points more since they couldn't exploit the missmatches the way 80s/90s had.
I know this is some stuff that most of you know it already but this is some cool video to show the peepz that claim guys like Jordan would average 40+ points in todays era because he was killing it in a hand checking era

I'm assuming only younger fans didn't know this. But they don't put the pieces together for "why we don't have dominate big men anymore". Well if you could clear out a whole side of the court and let them go to work for 8-10 seconds shyt would change immediately

Yep, you get them boxing counts, 3 secs is closer to 5 or 6, which is a quarter of the shot clock

Zone is a reason Miami didn't win 4 in a row.

You need to have shooters. The best players / teams can't dominate like they would. Unless they're great shooters as well. (look at the Warriors and Hawks)

Good thing about it is that it promotes team basketball.

How much of the video did you watch b? The change was dramatic, the overload coach thib defense couldn't exist in those days. You literally were one man away from a layup every play

People from my generation (born early 80's) still try and pull out that hand checking bullshyt because they feel threatened by anyone being in the same realm as Jordan. It is as though it is threatening their religion.

Just one of many myths that people try to push about past generations of sports
