There are a lot of people in this thread pontificating on what reporters can and can't say and that they're mindless puppets that just tote the company line.
I've worked in TV for almost 20 years and for the most part, you are incorrect.
These posters are caping for her and it's not about "hatred for black women." WTH with that agenda?
Ppl have had the same smoke for sports personalities like SAS and Michelle Beadle.
While lower-level reporters and journalists may stay with the company line as they work their way up,
figures like Malika, SAS, Acho, Rachel Nichols, Skip, etc. have a lot of power when they hit those coveted host seats. They become executive producers/supervising producers of the shows and can veto what stories they want to report on. Sometimes these hosts/reporters will pass stories
they don't want to comment on to their co-hosts or lower correspondents, either because they're too close to it or don't want to fully partake, especially if they think it will affect their brand.
If they do report on it, they become robotlike and just read copy with no additional commentary.
The days of the Ron Burgandy-like hosts mindlessly just doing a reader are gone. We watch these guys for their dumb ass opinions.
