Short term solution. Conferences and divisions mean something in leagues. The way the AFC North is filled with teams designed to battle each other for the crown

I disagree.
Look at Soccer as an example.
The Premier League has no divisions and plays round robin, they still maintain rivalries.
It's not necessary for the NBA, does it really matter who wins the Atlantic?

I wouldn't be surprised if the Warrior's success forces their hand to push for 1-16.
