On one end of the spectrum, at the youth sports level, kids play basketball to football at about a 3:1 rate.

Then at the other end of the spectrum, the NCAAM final four outstrips the NBA finals for viewers.

So for everyone in here saying viewership numbers dont matter--what these numbers show is that all of the Americans that love basketball don't love the NBA.

If you don't consider that a problem, fine: so be it. But to pretend it isn't interesting is disingenous.

This Celtics team is on par with the KD warriors just without mainstream star appeal. This doesn't make for a good series. Matter of fact I haven't watched A full Celtics game this postseason it just feels inevitable. Plus I just hate them in general.

NBA desperately needs a Gen Z American face of the league type players to pop off soon and have team success. This new batch doesn’t hold interest like the 2010s stars to casuals and even those guys weren’t as popular as the generation before them. They NBA literally went on a 30 year run of having mega stars come thru for them

That's a silly argument. Kids play soccer like crazy too, but Americans don't watch soccer at all. Way more people watch tennis than watch soccer, but no one grows up playing tennis as a kid.

Most of football's fans never played it and don't care that they never played it. Americans love crime and drug shows too, does that mean they're all gangsters?

Multiple times I've heard people say they don't like the pros because of the money they get paid.

It ain't nothing but jealousy from the majority of the population.

The league needs a focal point player/teams that are in the finals year after year. This parity era is bad for attracting casual fans it's hard to build large narratives around it. I think since that Raptors/Warriors finals no teams have returned to the finals the next season.
