Im not saying the 50k fine hurts much to anyone involved I just don’t get why it was even needed to make an official statement. It was known publicly that Kyrie and Jimmy wanted out without their agent issuing a press release.

Likely because behind closed doors the pelicans weren’t playing nicely....so going public gets the media and fans involved....that makes Silver possibly get involved.....in favor of the spectacle the fans want.....AD in LA facing off against Golden State.....the names are too big not to give the people what they want.......CP3 never had that cache

He’s taking the “heat” so that Magic/LA don’t get into anymore tampering trouble.
At this point Rich and AD hold most of the cards.
Publicly request a trade, so that EVERYONE knows what time it is.
Make it known on a “nudge wink” basis that AD wants to be a Laker. This puts all other suiters in second place. This also lets the Lakers know what they gotta do to get AD by the deadline (Include EVERYBODY and they mama’s.)
Get a little bullshyt fine to satisfy the crying owners and GM’s who hate the fact the players can basically bully their way out of town.
Rich made a power move. Now its up to the Lakers to get the deal done. Nobody can say that Rich could have put AD in any better position to be a Laker THIS season.
Again this is all assuming that A). AD wants out NOW and B). He wants to be a Laker NOW.

If NO pushed for this fine then if I'm AD, killing any value that NO could get on a trade elsewhere and pulling a Melo by saying "I won't resign with any team except the Lakers" (via sources of course).
Him saying he won't sign the extension was the gentlemen's gesture not to fukk NO over. Them acting like hurt bytches if they advocated for the fine would incentivize me to stain them as hard as possible.

What does this even mean?
It has nothing to do with us and everything to do with them. In fact, Rich Paul got fined because he went directly to the media, he didn't get fined because of anything Lakers related or Magic related.
Teams just don't want to help us despite us not having one ounce of success in over half a decade. Remember when we got Pau and Pop cried to the NBA and the media? Spurs were never going to give us Kawhi, Pacers sued us for tampering even after they traded PG and now Pelicans have made it clear they'll do anything but trade him here.

Pelicans made a public statement yesterday telling the league to do a better job enforcing tampering rules regarding AD asking for a trade.
Pelicans know just like everyone else that 99% of the league tampers, this is nothing new. AD was respectful to them and asked for a trade only after Pelicans once again failed to surround him with a decent roster.
Pelicans instead are now acting petty instead of just dealing with this issue privately. No need to make stupid official statements, this is only going to push AD away further. They knew the trade demand would come soon.
