pretty much all.. well the majority of marvel characters are from NY

There are a bunch of NY based heroes. It was just a color play. And none of that changes the fact that I just think the character is lame.

True but he's very much a stereotypical New Yorker, for instance in the tv show he always has a thick New York accent etc.

Good point, he's always a clear New Yorker for damned sure. Typically I think NYC characters and Dare Devil or Spidey come to mind first thing; colors be damned I like those guys better lol
