Network TV still has alot of power when it comes to viewership and promotion, just like it did in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. It is why NFL has a very large reach in the US. Before the NBC deal, the NBA had what... maybe 25 total games the entire season on ABC? Having the NBA on network TV will do wonders

Perfect example is Boxing. PPV is cool, but it ruins the viewership numbers for casual fans. One of the highest Boxing matches of all time is Muhammad Ali vs Leon Spinx 2, which had an estimated 90 million viewers, with 47% of all TV sets watching the fight :damn:. Can't beat Network TV

Getting basketball back on channels that everyone has was important, I am glad everyone got to see a great game too.
David Stern going all in on cable in 2002 was a mistake
