Every damn team plays the same way.

Guard gets ball.

Waits for screen(they don't even have to call for it anymore)

A big switches onto him

Drives

Kicks it out for a 3

:unimpressed:

"Favorable matchup" basketball is boring.

Where is the "skill" in avoiding your matchup so you can get a slower player on you? I thought this era of elite handles would eliminate the need for having a big switch onto you.
I know right. Let me pull up some Knicks vs Pacers playoff games from the 90s. Real ball.

You may have a point.

You hear a lot about how in the old days, athletes would play multiple sports over a year.
It's not a stretch to think that along with developing different parts of the body and being more conditioned, they also might have picked up certain skills from the variety of sports they played.

Also saw a clip recently from Clinton Portis on how most RBS on that Miami team also ran track, but nowadays guys rarely do

That's actually how Miami got so many talented guys on their teams. Some dudes would get track scholarships with the understanding that they'd play football too.

great defenders are determined by physical traits*
This is kinda true frfr.

Best scorers have a lot of variety. Small/coordinated brehs like Steph. Athletic freaks like MJ. Tall/rangy snipers like KD and Dirk. Bullies like Shaq and Wilt.

Defenders are almost always athletic (brehs) with longer arms and quick feet. Usually students of the game that know what every opposing player likes to do.
