How is lowering the shot clock from 24 to 14 following offensive boards gonna increase scoring ? How often do teams even milk the entire 24 following a board during the natural flow of the game ?

It's about making the end of games more exciting and cutting into the incentive to foul.

This is what the Spurs used to do in the 2000s. They would give up offensive boards to set up their D in transition. That’s why they always killed the Suns in the playoffs.

That’s the first thing that popped into my head when a I saw this. If you actually knew the game then you would know what I was talking about but I guess most dudes on here are young nikkas or casuals. :yeshrug:
Beilein at Michigan does the same thing. Doing this is very good at hiding defensive deficiencies. However I would assume the league is doing this to hasten the pace so more shots go up

I don't see how anybody is complaining about this. This rule makes things more enjoyable to fans. It will lead to more offensive possessions and less time watching a team set up offense or just hold the ball late in games after an offensive rebound.

I read that 14 second thing wrong the first time. I was about to let loose on a post :pachaha:

After rereading it, I like it. It will actually benefit bigs, as they wont feel the obligation to kick it back out to the guard to set the offense again, run down the clock and chuck another three. With less time on an offensive rebound, bigs will be more willing to put it back up or create a shot for themselves. There's no need to gather, look for a guard, pass it out for there to be 10 seconds left on the clock

Philly bouls, Trust the Process
Not into the shot clock change I think you need to reward the offensive rebound, but it's not a deal breaker.

Anyone got detail on what they mean by simplification of clear path? I feel like fouling guys before a fast break has gone too far, hopefully this addresses that.

Third one just gonna lead to more replays? :patrice:

I dunno. The game safe and fast enough as it is. I don't see the need for any changes. :manny:

A good basketball game at any pace is a great watch in my experience. Whether the final score is 150-145 or 75-72 doesn't matter much to me.

Part of what makes for a good basketball game is the talent & playing style of brehs on the court . Another part is the narrative constructed around the players - team rivalries, personality conflicts, etc. When you combine those two things in the right balance you get some special shyt :banderas:

What kills a basketball game IME is undue influence of the referees on game outcomes. No matter what team you're going for. Shyt leaves a bad taste in general - cheapens wins and creates ready-made excuses for losers.

The only thing I'd like to see from the NBA is that they put this new generation of refs through some real intensive training to up their real-time processing abilities. Too many fukked up calls this past season - calls that OG refs would've easily gotten right just off the muscle memory of years of experience.

That shyt in game 1 of the Finals was just embarrassing...they gotta do better.

Other than that...let the players play :blessed:

I DUNO, CATS IS GUNA BE SHOOTING HELLA PANIC THREES AFTER OFFENSIVE REBOUNDS

NOT ENOUGH TIME TO RESET THE OFFENSE
That’s the point. Not fair to the defense and they’re drained when they get back on offense. I never liked them getting a new clock because of the reasons I stated.
