I like Crowder. While I understand how dumb it is for Ainge to treat the inclusion of him in a deal for Butler as a deal breaker, I also understand why he is a piece Ainge values as much as he does.

Personally, I'd rather see them move Avery Bradley for Butler and keep Crowder.

I agree but if I have to then I'd do it. Can't let Jae Crowder get in the way of you getting Butler if it comes down to it

Also I understand that Butler is not a guy you build around to win a title. He's probably a 2nd or 3rd best player on a title team tbh.

But more then likely the Celtics would only have to give up one of the Nets picks and one valuable young asset. So they'd still have enough future assets to be in the PG or Blake Griffin sweepstakes in the summer or whatever disgruntled star becomes available

At this point I don't see why the Celtics don't do whatever it takes to get PG.

I doubt they trade Pg now. I know their not going anywhere but their record is too good to trade your best player with 20 something games to go from a pr standpoint at least.

Easier in the summer when you've just gotten beaten in the first round again and PG will probably continue to make comments about wanting to go somewhere where he can win.

Only thing is Bird is such a competitive guy. Does he have the patience to blow it up and suck for a few years?

Because if we gut our roster, what's the point? Especially when we can just sign Gordon Hayward with our cap space and not give up anything

And yes I know Gordon Hayward isn't as good as Paul George but if that's the difference between keeping all these guys and the picks then that's better

The thing is, that Brooklyn pick has potential to be better than PG. I understand it from Bird's perspective, but if you're Boston then Paul gives you the best shot to make the finals, if you offer something that Bird can't refuse that is.

There is always the chance too that trading the pick now could be the best move for Boston, as it's never a lock to be #1.

You won't have to gut your roster. But that's the thing, if you want to win a championship this season then you have to come up of those Brooklyn picks.

I don't see Boston winning anything with Gordon Hayward and IT as your #1 and #2 though.

Oh I'd do it in a second if I'm Indiana I'm just looking at it how politics and image is also part of trades and why they may or may not go down.

Hard to trade your best player when your in the playoffs and 500
