#1 pick is not guaranteed, him being anywhere close to PG/Butler is not guaranteed. Another factor is how IT will react to another point guard coming in.

I don't understand this line of thinking, this years draft is the PG draft, next years draft is the big man draft. So, help me understand why you'd be so pressed to keep this years pick when your franchise player is a PG, and Smart who also appears to be a building block for yall is really a PG, then you have Rozier, shyt you still have Jackson. If you draft any of these top PGs they will not develop as rapidly for your team as they would for another, which will hurt their value because Fultz/Ball/Smith etc will all be coming off the bench for you for the foreseeable future.

They have so many guards already, and taking Jackson would be odd because he and Brown are similar. I don't get why they'd want one of these PGs so much, unless they plan on giving Thomas the boot.

I just don't see the obsession with the 2017 pick for a team loaded with guards already, the Nets will be awful next year and next years draft has Bamba and Ayton who are more in line with what the Celtics need and them coming off the bench wouldn't be as much of a waste. Also, has Porter who is the type of player Ainge craves, 6'10" SF with an outside game.
