Is it the top ranked QB(or some other position) who was supposed to be a franchise savior, but failed terribly. Or the top lottery pick NBA player who was paid a bunch of money and never delivered.

The bold is the tale of the tape. The new nfl Cba protects teams from taking such hits.

NBA produces the bigger busts just by simple math.
:patrice:Wouldn't it be the other way around since the NFL has way more players in each draft? Not to mention the players who ain't top first round picks yet turn out to be elite on that Tom Brady shyt, most elite NBA players were first rounders that people predicted would be great.

We can generally define busts by top 10 picks though.

For example, Tim Tebow being picked at 19 wouldnt be defined as a bust IMO, nor would an NBA player picked 19th. Unless of course they just did completely nothing at all.

Blaine Gabbert is equally as big of a bust as Anthony Bennett(seems to be)

This. The NFL takes this by a mile.

EVERY first round pick is a sure thing the way they get hyped up in the NFL.

The NBA is a lot more reserved in comparison. Generally, we have a good idea who's gonna be great, good, average and trash. There is hype for a few guys and realistic outlooks for the rest. Probably undervalued, actually.

Exactly.. sometimes it takes a few years whether you can gauge on whether a NBA player is a bust or not.. cause early in their career you'll always see them make a breakout play or breakout game here and there and you wonder do they really got it to take that next leap.:lupe: But by that late 2nd to 3rd year you'll know if they got the goods or not.

Players be straight disappearing in the NFL. Yeah its a bigger roster and more of a team game but after ESPN showed Clowney's hit on that Michigan running back one million times and gave him an espy award for it... that had me locked, loaded, front and center for his pro career..Dut did this nicca even play a down this year?:what: Tim Tebow, USC QB's, Weedon, Gabbert, Sam Bradford, 85% of every Heisman winner, etc. Even my boy Vince Young wasn't safe.. NFL got the bust category on lockdown:win:

I gotta disagree. Every 1st round pick in the NFL draft is a high value pick. Most 2nd round picks in the NFL draft are also high value. Tebow at #19 was a bust. If he went in the 6th round it would have been another story.

Considering how many positions there is in Football the number 19pick is like a Lottery pick in the NBA. Barring injuries more number one picks have panned out in the NBA than NFL.
