In cooperation with the labels. It's naive to think that the labels who decided who dropped what and when had no influence on the direction of the genre.

Especially if the only goal is to make money. These mfers don't give a shyt about getting out a message. The message is kill nikkas and white people agree with it.

I meant white people keep the money flowing into that particular culture. However, I believe that those of the culture behave in a manner that will put them in a favorable position to be recognized. If selling out nikkas will get you paid, then these idiots will do just that. It's anything for the bag era.
Yes you are right.

Reminds me of that one poster last week talking about NY rappers dikkride the italian mobb more :dead:
Wu-Gambinos," Chef Raekwon (Only Built 4 Cuban Linx- Jakes beware of black rap millionaires/Rock Airs, leather goose, bears blowing this year/1-800-GAMBINO n--gas, yeah"- from Atlanta but I love NY 90s hip hop.

Wrong. nikka this is NBA Youngboi, one of the most ignorant dumbass rappers today. He was called an animal and let it slide. You are lying like a mf if you say other coast rap about that mafia shyt more than the east coast. Yes there are references from everywhere in hip hop but NY was the leaders of that shyt it’s no question. For every line you got NY itself got 100 to match. Kool G rap literally was the first rapper to talk on the mafioso rap shyt. Name somebody from another coast B4 him :wtf:

It's not naive. I have analyzed the music business for years and I can speak to any era you want.. it's just easy to say whites did this. Whites actually opposed a lot of the direction of the content that became most of rap. This is all documented. They would have had sesame street raps if rappers themselves didn't dictate the direction. Fight the power. From Luke for explicit content to NWA n word use to ice-T rapping bout dead cops. That was spearheaded by rappers.

Once it was accepted and SUCCESSFUL labels got behind it and sought it out in that order. We have been in the streaming era for over a decade in that timespan music had filtered it's way from the internet. From the DatPiff or livemixtapes era to SoundCloud era etc. Music has been making waves online first as artists are unsigned. You still coming with those old ass narratives. It's a distraction and an impedance to addressing the problem. Why are the youth perpetually fascinated and drawn to the most of ignorant artists. Labels are not behind that. When WE can answer that question then we begin to undo the harm. To pretend it is otherwise is a waste of time. You either want to play the blame game or seek solutions. That's on you. But this drive of ignorance generation upon generation has young Black people in a tough place. They don't have balanced representation when they look at people like themselves.

Labels as businesses went where the profit was eventually, they didn't spear head this. Even when will Smith was selling 10 million nobody wanted to rap like him. Labels couldn't make artists clean when they did try and it was proven to sell. For example in the CD era just having explicit tags would keep you out of Walmart, that's a huge market lost.

the "culture" has a hold over everyone. Ignorance has become highly valued as a representation of realness in some misguided fashion and thus you have adulation for the most ignorant acts. Youngboy and Pooh Sheisty if he wasn't locked up were the leaders of the new era. Children of Keef who is a child of Wayne. Influence flows across. People chose who they wanted to emulate. They had many options.

YoungBoy is a product of his times and the dominant culture not a label creation. He is chosen by the people. Why? Is the issue

The rappers who stan Gotti are among the most ignorant when you actually look into his story. He only came to prominence because the families were at their weakest point due to the Feds dropping the hammer on them after police corruption was exposed. Even with that he was beyond reckless and basically tried to become a celebrity. Many mobsters were known and famous, but never before had someone basked in the spotlight and entertained it. He came to be despised by the mafia for breaking every tradition they had. They would have been pushed back regardless, but a strong boss could have at least restructured and gave them some time to figure the new world out around them. He sped up their fall from grace which allowed the Eastern Europeans to move right on into New York, the heart of their territory. Even in prison he moved without dignity.

nikkas just hear stories of him having people killed in broad daylight and the fame and think that made him a gangster. He was a fool and his own people knew it. They basically detached themselves from his family after that which is part of the reason why they all had to become Jersey Shore level white trash socialites.
