For whatever reason the youth loves him. He’s like the dividing line between younger folks and older hip-hop heads.

I gave him the benefit of the doubt a little while back and listened to a few of his albums all the way through. He’s got an interesting singing type flow and has some introspective lyrics. His lyrics oftentimes talk about street life and all that entails. I guess he sounds genuine, but I have no idea if he is or not.

Anyway, I tried and it’s not the type of music for me. I like drill and trap, but Youngboy isn’t really a typical trap rapper. I guess I’m too old to get it, but I’m okay with that

He's hard to understand and his music is very demonic like 99% of Gen-Z rappers but then again so was millennials rappers and Gen X rappers. I guess I just grew up on it and understand it better for that reason. That said, once I heard Kasey Talk for like the 50th time playing 2k, I finally understood some of the lyrics. Same for Young Thug on Lifestyle.

people used to say the same about Kevin Gates and look how popular he was sales/streaming wise.

YoungBoy is like the streaming gen's Boosie to me.... Boosie really had a set of devoted fans of all ages all over the south, a section of white fans that were crazy for him and just enough internet presence on YouTube where you understood the appeal more through the dvd's etc

I don't listen to him at all but I remember giving his albums from a like 2018, 2019 a chance at that time and there is def talent there.

Thing is, he's way more popular than Boosie ever was while being as popular in the hood as Boosie. No one talked about Boosie like they talk about Youngboy. Maybe it's the apperance, women keep rappers' names in their mouths a lot more than men do for non-music reasons.
