*Slow down owlettes I'm sure the 40 year old Canadian super thug is still gonna put up numbers :whoa:

*But it seems like the energy and the people's adoration have shifted towards youngboy

*I do feel like Kendrick bodying Drake also plays a role in this

*Kendrick was never gon take his spot but it left the spot open and now it seems like the Yns have chosen their new leader

Thinking that Drake was the youth's (hate using YN) favorite before YB just shows the average poster here is 40+ :mjlol:

YB's number have always been like this, the tour is just putting a visual to a fanbase that's already existed for years.
He's hardly done ANY mainstream "hip-hop" press.

His and Rod Wave's ascension if anything signals the lack of influence the industry has in planting new stars since they've all flopped (Doechii, Jack Harlow, Roddy Rich, etc.)

Grammy's, promos, bots and optics just don't hit like they once did anymore.
NBA Youngboy has a REAL cult-like fanbase, you can't fake influence.

Young Boy needs WAY more radio play to really take that spot IMO. And some undeniable verses and guest spots.

Right now he’s giving Prime Lil Baby. I need to see him really kick into another gear. A lot of artists have had dope years. YB deserves his success though

What new level of stardom are we talking about? The same people that have always fukked with him just were able to attend his show since he is always in some legal shyt.

He has no universally known songs that people outside his stanbase know, unlike the others in that post. He not ascending nowhere.

Drake was the King. No question. He ran the game for over a decade, but that last round with Kendrick? Yeah, that was the end of the my guys reign in Hip Hop(not music, but Hip Hop)

Every era ends, and every dog has its day.:yeshrug:

Now, YoungBoy is this generation’s King. I’m honestly not sure why this is even still being debated by folks like me over 30. At some point, you just have to nod your head and accept it. The argument against him doesn’t really hold weight anymore. It’s fruitless

The only time I’ve seen something similar in Hip Hop was when the crowd was filled almost entirely with young Black Americans. like the whole culture was reflected right there in the audience. That’s the energy YB commands. He doesn’t need crossover appeal; his base is his world. But now watch what is about to happen. His ascendence will open up floodgates for those who yearn for more punchlines and bars(think Blog era)

Drake made perfect sense for his time. I mean coming right after Kanye, Jay-Z, and Wayne, his heroes it makes sense. His reign fit that lineage.

And YB makes just as much sense now. He’s a product of the era after Chief Keef, Drake, Wayne, Future, and Kevin Gates, etc . You can hear bits of all of them in his music, yet he’s still entirely his own man
Does his music appeal to me personally? Not in the fukking slightest. But I completely understand why the younger generation worships him. It adds up.

The only reason I’m not ready to agree is that I saw what Lil Baby was doing. Baby had streets AND the radio. YB just has the streets and online circles but mainstream doesn’t get it yet.

YB is the closest to that.

YB has a LONG way to go to lap that.

Nah

Lil Baby aint have nikkas crying their hearts out at his shows. This YB shyt is different bruh. Honestly he dont even need to get bigger. If he jus maintains his current status its enough. We havent seen no shyt like this in the culture. Practically ever.

The way it organically went down is crazy. Every other star had industry shenanigans and cosigns kick off their shyt. Fif- Eminem, Drake - Wayne, Kanye- Rocafella. Lil Baby - QC

YB is a result of people simply choosing who they fukk with, Not the industry telling you who to fukk with.

Dont let recency bias get the best of you.

This was Carti and Uzi years ago.

Everyone has time to show and prove. YB has a team around him, but time will tell.

You keep forgetting that element. TIME.
