Dont let recency bias get the best of you.

This was Carti and Uzi years ago.

Everyone has time to show and prove. YB has a team around him, but time will tell.

You keep forgetting that element. TIME.

Nope once again. Dudes like Carti, Uzi and Travis are industry darlings and middle america/ white boys favorites.

This NBA youngboy shyt is like Lil Boosie on steroids. Complete grasp of the culture, Black America, the streets etc.

Last time we seen some shyt like this is Pac honestly :manny:. i aint even a fan either, cant name five songs. But I respect it.

Again, LIL. BABY.

YB got time. He’s free, and has a second chance. We’ll see how this goes.

The content has to evolve though.

Lil Baby was a industry push. Came in the game with Drake feats, Gunna collab albums, Young Thug cosigns feats etc.

He was the product Atlanta pushed when they were at the pinnacle of their industry dominance. YB is a YN that organically rose his way to the top. Who is now the face and role model of YNs worldwide.

Lil Baby is more akin to a fifty cent, Yb is like a tupac. There is a cult of personality with him.

Wrong. Lil Baby wasn’t an industry push. You’re wrong here. Baby ran the streets AND radio and had mainstream appeal with black audiences.

This negates your entire point.

YB is on fire, but he’s not even where Lil Baby was a few years ago.

@Finesse I get that you want to win this argument, but every artist who hits this type of run looks the same. It’s how they expand past this initial push into something new.

We have literally seen this before.

YB got his first Khaled placement just now. He’s nowhere near where Baby was. He’s got time but a lot of stuff needs to happen. Lil Baby had a couple of them and they were SMASHES. YB’s joint is kinda meh.

The only reason I’m not ready to agree is that I saw what Lil Baby was doing. Baby had streets AND the radio. YB just has the streets and online circles but mainstream doesn’t get it yet.

YB is the closest to that.

YB has a LONG way to go to lap that.
Having the radio in 2025 doesn’t matter.

Spolity / Apple Music play-listing priority is important for sure, but in terms of actual radio spins no under 35 could give a fukk less these days, even if it helps with billboard charting.

He's got a loyal fan base, hopefully there aren't any issues at the show tonight.

All of his songs sound the same to me.

Drake was the King. No question. He ran the game for over a decade, but that last round with Kendrick? Yeah, that was the end of the my guys reign in Hip Hop(not music, but Hip Hop)

Every era ends, and every dog has its day.:yeshrug:

Now, YoungBoy is this generation’s King. I’m honestly not sure why this is even still being debated by folks like me over 30. At some point, you just have to nod your head and accept it. The argument against him doesn’t really hold weight anymore. It’s fruitless

The only time I’ve seen something similar in Hip Hop was when the crowd was filled almost entirely with young Black Americans. like the whole culture was reflected right there in the audience. That’s the energy YB commands. He doesn’t need crossover appeal; his base is his world. But now watch what is about to happen. His ascendence will open up floodgates for those who yearn for more punchlines and bars(think Blog era)

Drake made perfect sense for his time. I mean coming right after Kanye, Jay-Z, and Wayne, his heroes it makes sense. His reign fit that lineage.

And YB makes just as much sense now. He’s a product of the era after Chief Keef, Drake, Wayne, Future, and Kevin Gates, etc . You can hear bits of all of them in his music, yet he’s still entirely his own man
Does his music appeal to me personally? Not in the fukking slightest. But I completely understand why the younger generation worships him. It adds up.

YBs fanbase is gonna outgrow him tho. He won't be pulling huge arenas in his 30s like Drake does.

This is Youngboy’s first real arena tour as a headliner. He’s been in the game for almost 10 years which is crazy to think about. His fanbase is young but there’s a range from like 28 and on down. A lot of fans are seeing him for the first time ever. The hype and demand is there to see him live. Then you see videos online of his shows and how lit they are….more people want to experience that shyt.

Youngboy is the closest thing to a rockstar in hip-hop. Playboy Carti is right there but Youngboy has more of an emotional impact on his fans compared to Carti. Youngboy and Rod Wave inherited XXX and Juice Wrld fanbase. My little brother (17) is one of them.

I personally can’t get into a lot of his music….but i recognize that he’s one of the biggest rappers at the moment.

I used to think this.

nah bro Radio matters.

You gotta remember…streaming costs money. Unless you truly have radio, youre not a real superstar.
