That’s a big if. Most artists who make youth centered music don’t evolve effectively when they get older. Not saying he won’t have a fanbase it just won’t be as big. Usually a good barometer for the artists who will have longevity is how popular they are overseas especially in Europe. YB doesn’t have a huge overseas following.
He does well with the “pain” music so I think he will be fine.

You can say we 40 and out of touch but if you’re under 30 you have no grasp of what a star rapper is because you never seen it in real time.

Also, a lot of y'all don't realize just how long YB been popping. He's been know since 38 Baby in 2016 and poppin since 2017 with AI Youngboy. "Outside" and "Solar Eclipse" came out in 2018. Those are some of his biggest records. I'd say this is YB's second wind.
YB was fortunate enough to catch the last wave of Livemixtapes/Datpiff/Spinrilla mixtape rappers while everyone else had moved on to Spotify/Apple Music/Tidal. He cultivated his fanbase through mixtapes when everyone else went to streaming.

Young Boy needs WAY more radio play to really take that spot IMO. And some undeniable verses and guest spots.

Right now he’s giving Prime Lil Baby. I need to see him really kick into another year. A lot of artists have had dope years. YB deserves his success though
This. Outside a couple of of minor radio hits back in 2020, YB has always been a non-factor at radio. I refuse to believe he's the next big mainstream star to replace Drake/Kendrick/Future until radio starts playing his music like that's the case. All 3 of those guys I mentioned were big on streaming & radio.

As far comparing YB to Lil Baby....... Lil Baby has 19 Top 10 hits on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. YB only has 1. Peak Lil Baby was bigger than YB.

What new level of stardom are we talking about? The same people that have always fukked with him just were able to attend his show since he is always in some legal shyt.

He has no universal known songs that people outside his stanbase know, unlike the others in that post. He not acsending nowhere.
You’ve definitely at least heard someone say that they “feel like Gucci mane in 2006”

I know the song. I don't think the average person who is casual has for sure, in fact a lot of casuals wouldn't even know what an NBA youngboy is:pachaha:
It's not exactly In Da Club breh :pachaha:

People who downplay RADIO don’t get it.

That shyt is still foundational. I’m not talking about even clubs or streaming.

the AVERAGE person doesn’t even know his music. Being a super-fan isn’t gonna cut it.

Again… Lil Baby was a RADIO MONSTER. And people are being gassed by this moment.

It’s like people just wont let shyt blossom on its own. We’ve seen this before.

Lil Baby damn near had the BLM anthem. :francis:

YB audience just started buying their own cars. I’m not defending YB at all. His tour speaks for him, but it’s so many young people listening to YB it’s crazy.
