Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
OK, so he’s having a Debaby run?

Breh... Baby was doing house shows... Only time he touched big crowds was when he was at FESTIVALS

I'll say again... NBA is doing ARENA to ARENA, nation wide, with NOBODY ELSE PERFORMING

You’re probably older than a lot of other Coli folks but faking like you’re in tune with what’s current so you won’t feel out of place :laff:

That’s EXACTLY what they be doin’. nikkas be terrified of being seen as “out of da loop” so they latch onto whatever is current even if they KNOW it’s garbage.

@☑︎#VoteDemocrat Vlad agrees with us.

In a candid discussion with DJ Akademiks, DJ Vlad weighed in on NBA YoungBoy’s place in hip-hop’s hierarchy, explaining why the Baton Rouge rapper won’t eclipse stars like Drake or Nicki Minaj. Despite YoungBoy’s fiercely loyal fanbase and commanding concert presence, Vlad argues that his music remains niche, lacking the crossover pop appeal that propels artists to global superstardom. Unlike Drake, Nicki, and Lil Wayne, who have successfully blended hip-hop with mainstream pop, YoungBoy stays true to his raw, street-oriented sound without chasing chart-topping hits or major collaborations. Vlad also noted YoungBoy’s nontraditional marketing approach, frequently dropping music that fans consume at their own pace rather than relying on big promotional pushes. While this strategy grants YoungBoy artistic freedom and a dedicated following, Vlad believes it limits his potential to reach the international pop status of his peers. Ultimately, Vlad respects YoungBoy’s unique career path, emphasizing that commercial size isn’t the only measure of success in music today.

I’ve just saying that he’s gonna need an actual mainstream pivot. This cult shyt wanes VERY fast. Even The Weeknd had to drop the mysterious act and become a pop darling to overcome that pocket of niche R&B.

its VERY difficult to accomplish.

Look at how Carti’s entire moment seems to be slipping

Young Boy needs WAY more radio play to really take that spot IMO. And some undeniable verses and guest spots.

Right now he’s giving Prime Lil Baby. I need to see him really kick into another gear. A lot of artists have had dope years. YB deserves his success though

This. Outside a couple of of minor radio hits back in 2020, YB has always been a non-factor at radio. I refuse to believe he's the next big mainstream star to replace Drake/Kendrick/Future until radio starts playing his music like that's the case. All 3 of those guys I mentioned were big on streaming & radio.

As far comparing YB to Lil Baby....... Lil Baby has 19 Top 10 hits on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. YB only has 1. Peak Lil Baby was bigger than YB.

People who downplay RADIO don’t get it.

That shyt is still foundational. I’m not talking about even clubs or streaming.

the AVERAGE person doesn’t even know his music. Being a super-fan isn’t gonna cut it.

Again… Lil Baby was a RADIO MONSTER. And people are being gassed by this moment.

It’s like people just wont let shyt blossom on its own. We’ve seen this before.

Lil Baby damn near had the BLM anthem. :francis:

Looks like YB has his 1st top 10 hit on Urban radio since 2020:
