Yeah, if you understood the concept of random sampling you would also understand that it doesn't matter that 500 people were in the poll if they are selected randomly according to mathematical law. More people may have given a smaller margin of error, but that's why that control exists. It is extremely unlikely that the true opinions of the population fall outside of the margin of error.

This is basic statistics.
