A wrong can be written right again! Since neither can use the NCAA trademarks or other team names

Now EA Sports and 2K sports can compete directly with one another, on a level playing field. That is if either decide to create a generic college game.

If they decided to use a teambuilder type function where you can still upload logos of real colleges you might end up having a fully customizable game. If they (EA and 2K) limit the number of teams on the disk and allow users to download teams via some type of teambuilder exchange. You can have custom teams, bowls, stadiums, and play-offs.

They can now do things that maybe the couldn't do with the NCAA license. You can have a player suspended for controversial things like bad comments via social media, or getting involved in illegal activities, and have teams be put on probation for illegal recruiting practices.

This can be a good thing if one or both companies decide to produce a game like this. However, it can be bad if they remain idle and let fans of College Football and Basketball suffer.

This is not necessarily the case...I made this thread in the Arcadium already, and have been updating that one.

Long story short, this will basically be a cosmetic change only (meaning that if/when a CFB comes out, it just won't be "NCAA Football 'XX". The CLC (Collegiate Licensing Company) is the important thing, as it contains all the good stuff (conferences/teams/etc.), and is separate from the NCAA. So, theoretically (presuming the CLC and EA stay in business together), all this means is that the next CFB will be the same, sans the "NCAA" branding.

If this goes down right, this could be the best thing that ever happened.

Two years ago I interviewed a EA developer for my site and he told me all about how restrictive the NCAA is/was.

There are a lot of really cool ideas that have been scrapped from the game at the last second by the NCAA.

A playoff option in Dynasty would have been in the game a looooooong time ago if EA had their way.

If they can convert the uniforms/schools/conferences, the NCAA's little logo won't mean much.

And truthfully, you could easily see a much better game esp now that next-gen has arrived.
