thats part of it.
The money in politics makes it so that these developers can keep making "luxury" housing with maybe 2 or 3 "affordable" units. If that. and every time someone moves out or an old lady dies from an old apartment where she was paying 1998 rent $600 per month. The rent goes up to market value for the same place. that place is now going for $1500 to $1800 .. our wages have not increased that much to keep up. so whos going to afford that? you may get lucky in certain parts of the city and gets some UCLA or USC rich kids parents to foot the bill for those new rents. aside from that. these places can't keep long term tenants. cause no one can keep up that crazy rent. and thats low level stuff.
What do you mean that's part of it??
You literally described my point in more detail.
The housing is being limited on purpose.
