I think a lot of people aren’t accustomed to how many cats are immigrants or kids of immigrants in NY.
The Jamaicans, AAs, Puerto ricans, Panamanians, Haitians, Dominicans and on all lived in the same hoods and fukked with each other. Like some people you wouldn’t even know where their parents are from.
So naturally there would be one or a few from all of those countries but the vast majority were Jamaican/AA.
But as usual everyone wants everything to be black or white. I would say it’s a culture primarily founded, spread and developed by black people with African American and Jamaican heritage in NY. With a sidebar of there being others as well
