I absolutely hate externals :snoop:

had 3 die on me(2 WD and 1 Seagate) in a 6 month span about 5 years ago which made me build a server

now my server is full and i dont want to spend the money building another one(dont really have the space either) so im just gonna get a portable external for my blurays

im looking at these 2 options:

Seagate Backup Plus 4TB Portable External Hard Drive USB 3.0
WD 4TB Black My Passport Portable External Hard Drive - USB 3.0

dont really care about the speeds since all I'll be using it for is watch blurays, just want to know which is more reliable aka less likely to die

I heard internet speeds are fast enough for Blu-ray quality streaming no problem :francis:

All hard drives will accumulate vectors till they die out. HGST, statistically is killing the game. WD has been quasi reliable, to be fair, one of mine has lasted 7 years (internal desktop) while the other new one is going on 3 years. I honestly feel like its only externals that for some reason, lock up or simply stop working. I've had two WD externals die on me, as has a friend of mine. When it comes to externals, I don't even bother anymore. I back up shyt on gmail (Using up 7 gigs up on there).

If its a game, I can simply re-download it. So making backups is easy for me as I only backup documents, music, pictures and songs. Also newegg has them cheap (refurb).

No space to add another internal hdd somewhere? Lost my whole music collection and movies to a WD external. Still has me :mjcry: To be fair it fell while in use, but it fell about a foot onto a thick carpet.
