Jimmy is a #1. But it's levels to being that. He not a lebron type who can carry bums to the finals. He more in the harden, Paul george, Damion liliard level, which means you have to surround him with a adequate level of talent so he can be successful. You might even have to add another number 1 so jimmy can fall back and focus more on defense, steals, etc so he can be at his very best.

Jimmy inability to fully maximize his potential is on the front office inability to fully pick a lane and go all in on it. Either your going to fill the team with nothing but youngsters, or you fill it with nothing but vets. Can't have a vet starting 5, but young ass bench and vice versa. Hopefully with this new commitment to build with jimmy they stop straddling and just get some quality role players and hopefully another all star caliber player who can score.

The thing with Jimmy is he's getting older and already having injuries. Sure you can add pieces around him but who? The top FA are staying put. And I don't want to give 30+ Butler max money. And I don't want a typical bulls situation where they drive his value down and trade him for luxury tax scraps. Just start over. This core is at best a low seed. The worst franchise position

I think having an athletic finisher will help Rondo a lot more.

no Deng shouldn't have been moved especially for what we got out of it , it was not a big move either way but hurt us at wing for years. Three years later and we end up with an aged Wade - so if you think that was a massive improvement to get us to respectability then you got . there's a reason why when Butler went off Wade was non-existent , they aren't complimentary of each other - with no ball handler able to get the ball to both , you end up asking one or the other to become play maker. When Butler becomes play maker we scream why he isn't shooting, so he shoots (all in ISO sets) and plays hero ball and the team suffers.

without Rondo it's a lose lose for Butler - he could be a #1 but if you look at the top two teams they both have two scorers avg more than Jimmy...so whether he's #1 or #2 he needs help if we are expected to be making runs to the ECF
