I use a laptop now, however, majority of my songs that were on my old ipod that is broken (4000-5000 songs) is on another computer.

The thing is the old computer was a desktop. I only have the tower (do they even sell these anymore btw :ohhh:), I don't have the monitor or the cords for it, just the tower. But thats where all the memory is.

Anybody know how I can get the music from the tower onto the laptop?

Much respect

youre prolly going to need a monitor, or if it has a hd output.. get a hd cable and plug it into your tv

Bump for any other ideas

I think you can , or if you have a relatively old TV LCD panel, it should be compatible with those old cords.

Take the hard drive out and get it transferred to a portable hard drive like homeboy said...or buy the cords to the tower, get an old monitor from the thrift store, buy your own portable hard drive, transfer said files to hard drive, and then transfer files from the hard drive to your laptop.

The hard drive onto a portable hard disc sounds like a good idea

here was a good answer...

I don't think that would work. The best thing to do is buy an external hard disk case to "convert" your internal hard disk into an external one, and then you'll be able to plug it into your laptop.

You think if if I give it to one of those repair shops they can just put all that info onto a USB, or just the music at the very least?

Yes, but they're gonna charge you about $100 at the very least to do it.

How old is the old desktop computer tower and what operating system did it use?
