Stuff like Freda Payne, Honey Cone and The Marvelettes

I admittedly didn't get put on to Honey Cone until a few years back but when I did (through the Kanye sample for "Testify") I realized that they didn't just have a good song that was familiar cause of the sample - their whole catalog is filled with gems

Are there any other artists that hit that sweet spot between like '68 and '72 that I may not know about that I can dig through multiple albums and find greatness?

Those styles are more 60s than 70s to me and I’m more of a early-mid 70s guy. But check out Mayer Hawthorne’s first 2 albums “A Strange Arrangement” and “How Do You Do” for some recent stuff with that vibe.
