I know there was already a thread made, but I need some advice for mine too. Gaming is the main reason I am building this desktop, but I'm not concerned with graphics cards as of yet. I need help finding a fairly cheap motherboard ($50-$75) that has HDMI, a PCIe 3.0(if not 3.0, 2.0 will do), and also finding a decent processor. Been doing research for days and Im getting frustrated with the mixed responses when comparing i5(preferably 2500k if I went that route) and any AMD Fx (Bulldozer) CPUs. For example, I'm looking to play BF3 on high(not necessarily ultra) settings at between 45-60 FPS. I know a lot of this will be dependent upon the graphics card(like I said, not worried about that right now), but do I really have to get a AMD FX-8150 or i5/i7 to run newer games at a decent frame rate? Can I go with something a lil lower and still be ok?

The mobo is gonna depend on what kind of CPU you get. But that price your looking for is kinda low. You might find something but you dont want to cut too many corners with a gaming PC. You can go with a lesser CPU for most modern games but you might want to think a little about the future.

Go with an i3 Sandy Bridge CPU if you're working with a tight budget. Next option would be a 2500K. Drop the AMD crap.

you probably should cop the 2500k from MC, they usually give a mobo discount if you buy it with a cpu ($50 off or something)

I appreciate the advice, but at least tell me why to "drop the AMD crap"?
