I prefer Android based phones. I currently have the Droid Bionic and it was good to me but it's slowing to a crawl like most phones do after having owned them for over a year it seems like. I'm wondering if I should get a phone now or wait a bit. I know there's a new Motorola phone coming that looks nice, what are my other options? Galaxy S4 still one of the best options? Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

That Motorola Droid Ultra with 48 hour battery life looks like a beast.

Bionic owner here. You said your phone is running slow, are you still running stock? I've rooted and flashed CM 10.1, and my phone is running like it did when I first bought it. Definitely something to look into if you want to stretch a couple more months out of your phone

Yeah, still running the stock OS with the updates they've sent OTA. Never rooted a phone, always been scared to do so.

That's the droid maxx. I might get that over the moto x. The x looks nicer but it has the same features and it lasts a lot longer

Yeah, I put it off for a year for the same reason.. I'm assuming youre on JB, heres what I did to get my phone up and running:

First you have to actually root the phone. The hardest part of the process, it was way easier before the OTA update to JellyBean. This is the guide I used to root mine: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2256439 Follow that exactly, and you should be rooted.

After the root, install SafeStrap. Here are the instructions for doing that: http://blog.hash-of-codes.com/how-to-safestrap/

Next, make sure any files you want to carry over are on your SD card, and not your internal memory. I used Titanium Backup to back up some of my apps, but that's all optional.

After that, you can flash whatever ROM you want without having to worry about your stock system getting messed up. I used this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2032257
