Instead of wanting their submission, black men like Umar are simply asking for black women to defer to black men, the principal targets of white supremacy. Black women and black gays are increasingly catered to by white society, partially because they're seen as non-threatening, but also due to the ongoing campaign of divide and conquer that they wage against our community. Marginalized in more ways than anyone else in this country, from imprisonment that has stripped our community of fathers to chronic lack of employment due to rampant hiring discrimination, the straight black male is the only one who can lead the fight to to free our people. I am at the point now that I believe any black woman or black gay who does not sit down and let us - straight black men - take charge are not allies and should be looked upon with suspicion.
