The actual people who are real scientists will not be in the public eye because the information they hold is too sensitive. Especially within capitalism since science has been utilized mainly for military expliots. He is nothing but the face for a propaganda machine. I wouldn't take anything he's says seriously but you have already been seduced so :yeshrug: neg me.

I should state its completely fine to believe in God (I do) but what Neil DeGrasse Tyson said about other scientists who do, as well as myself, is don't let your religion's concept of an afterlife get in the way of being productive and especially not being happy here in this life.

I see it all the time, people who believe in an afterlife play the waiting game when "everything will be great" when in fact everything is great when you approach living as a gift and you stop worrying/stressing about the thoughts that pop in your head.

People don't wish they spent more time being angry and sad when they're older.

Since you mention it, I've long maintained that there is no such thing as the "mind" and people looking for it don't understand neuroscience

Care to elaborate? Interested in this. From what I understand of it, the "mind" is simply a collection of different parts of the brain working together. That we're just the consciousness observing it all.

Now this is where the real heart of the matter lies....what is "consciousness".....humans believe we're so complex because we supposedly have "consciousness".....but if a species of a much higher power tried to communicate with us we'd probably just stand there like a drooling dog not knowing what the fukk is happening. No different from us trying to have a conversation with an animal below us.

Even plants have some level of "consciousness".....they're aware of their surroundings and can adapt to predators and even defend themselves. We believe we need brains to learn but plants can learn very quickly without the use of one. A mimosa plant will drop its leaves when it senses danger....if it experiences sudden movement, or if you touch it. A scientist set up a contrapment that dropped a mimosa plant over and over. On the initial drops they would curl up their leaves. But after about 6 drops, they started to keep their leaves out. Because they had learned what they were experiencing wasn't a threat to them. And it wasn't because they were exhausted. When the scientist went to touch them they curled up their leaves in defense like normal. And after a few months she came back and put them through the contrapment again and they still didn't curl up. So they actually remembered what they had learned from months before.

We also "think" we need ears to hear. But scientists did another experiment where they played a sound of a caterpillar nibbling on a plant. And this also made plants curl up in defense. They were actually able to sense danger from sound.

That's why we really have to stop believing we're on another level. We're really not. Our species just computes and stores data in a different way than other species.

It's comedy how people refer to "consciousness" as some sort of spiritual trait. That's why it's so hard for people to believe we one day die and lose our "consciousness".....they refuse to accept that our ability to think is all physical. If it wasn't so, then why can our consciousness be completely erased from a hard blow to the head?.....I mean that alone is proof that consciousness is not spiritual, but a physical property. What happens to all these people who suffer brain damage and pass away in a vegetative state?....do they suddenly regain their "consciousness".....or do they go into the afterlife as a retard?.....I mean the proof is right in our face. People still wonder if we keep our consciousness into the afterlife when can't even stay fully conscious when we go to sleep for Christ sake.

Our brains are merely organs that help us function through life, no different from the roots of a plant. You cut those out, we die and our "consciousness" goes with it. We're no more important than any other organism on this planet.

Traits such as "kindness" and "sweetness" don't atone for our sins as human beings. Accepting Christ and following his way are the only antidote to our sinful nature. :manny:
As a person who actually believes in a God this is exactly the shyt that gets us picked on.
And also why people immediately go the other way as soon as a bible thumper come running they way

we're essentially just responding to stimuli.

Thats it.

Go lookup "ocular dominance columns" will blow your mind.

Theres neurons that respond to the orientation of certain objects in space.

Thats your "mind"...its merely a collection of physiological responses to acute stimuli.
