I've been waiting a long time to hear something about a sequel to District 9. But from the interview doesn't sound like it's going to happen too soon or happen at all.

Could the sequel still happen?

Ever since Neill Blomkamp's first film, District 9, hit screens four years ago it has become a genre sensation, grossing $210 million at the global box office on a $30 million budget. Fans have been anticipating a follow-up to the movie and the good news is that plans for a sequel are very much in motion, but it might be a while.

In an interview with Wired, Blomkamp revealed that an 18-page treatment exists for District 10, but the only details he would give on the story are that it is “really f*****g cool.” Here comes the bad news though, Blomkamp says he's not prepared to commit to the sequel, meaning its future is even more uncertain than it was previously.

Also during his interview, Blomkamp revealed that he turned down the possibility of working on a new Star Wars project when Elysium producer Simon Kinberg brought up the subject.

Blomkamp's new film, Elysium, will be released in theaters on August 9th

True it was bittersweet but I need find out if Christopher Johnson going to keep his word to Wikus. There's so much story that could be told with another movie with the set up from the first film.

The problem with it is they would need to bring in another star for the human connection unless they do the whole flash back thing because a movie with Chris and Wikus running around talking in alien talk won't cut it.

Or

they jump the shark and pull an independence day and have chris bring his crew and go to town on earth

he said he's coming back to save his people.. so you better believe he ain't coming back alone


the thing that was amazing to me was Wikus' acting skill.. he starts off as a lame and when they start torturing him you see his acting step up.. then by the end he turns into the wild ass dude blasting folks with no problems

and MOST of all his dialogue was improvised

Blomkamp has a golden pass with me cause of District 9. Elysium is deff getting seen in theaters along with anything else he directs.

There's plenty that can be explored in a sequel. They could flip the script and show Chris reach his homeland and how he would go about rescuing his nikkas from Earth.

Then have a 3rd movie showing what goes down when he comes back and if he keeps his word to Wikus

Unless they plan on making it anime, there's no way they will green light a movie about chris going back to his home planet speaking in prawn with no human actors.

But why though? There's plenty of animated movies that drop all the time



I would only want that if they planned on a 3rd movie dropping. But I think they could pull it off with a story based on Chris because in the original you actually felt for that nikka and his son before it ended. When Wikus took his ride I was legit pissed off before he fukked up and crashed.
