smh so we gonna forget everything else he ever did cuz he worked with nelly? :stopitslime: disrespectful

I've never thought Dr. Dre to be this amazing super producer to begin with. He's had classics without a doubt, but alot of stuff you think he did, he didn't do at all or it was ghost producers. Has nothing to do with Nelly per se, but if he's going to work with Nelly for a fukking Chronic album, then it should be obvious why someone wouldn't want to hear it.

besides newton and da vinci no one was great on their own. in all genres music was written and produced for artists. its a collaborative effort. whether he played the synth on keep ya head ringing doesn't matter. his body of work is top 3 no question. at this point everyone in the game's talked about detox, i doubt nelly will make the final cut.

Eh....

Producers like Rza, Premiere, and Quik have done a hell of a lot more on their own than Dre has. I'm not saying "arrange these 4 guys from best to worst", I'm just saying Dre has had more help than any other GOAT producer contender.

you know this because you've been in the studio with Dre?

:what:

That's a dumb ass question. Dre doesn't hide the fact that he has a ton of people in the studio with him. Hell, you can read song credits and there's 5-6 producers/musicians working on 1 song of his. It's been that way for 20+ years.

You seriously thought he was doing all that by himself? I don't even understand how that's possible, he's never hidden the fact.

"Chronic 2001" was co-produced by Mel-Man and there's 8-9 musicians on the album. Someone like Quik can play his own instruments and read music with no help:

of course he wasn't doing it all himself but you're making it sound like he doesn't do ANY qork on the beat then just takes the credit for it. yes he has musicians who play bass for him (Elizondo) and piano (Storch) yes he brings in new talent all the time like the cat who worked on Relapse BUT where are these peoples Chronic? where are their classic SONGS even? what you gonna say Lean Back or Candy Shop is some classic Nuthin But A G Thang shyt? LA Times is on the same level as Westside Story? even Daz hasn't kept up to the level of what he supposedly did on Chronic & Doggystyle. Dogg Food was dope but surprise surprise that's when he had Dre around to help, since then he has been decidedly hit & miss

true, he's not the raw talent that other producers are, but his brand is what makes him great. dre doesn't even have to produce, a lot of what he does is executive producing. im more likely to buy an album executive produced by dre over almost anybody. but there are producers who are musically more talented, ill give u that.

Quik has people playing for him too, he doesn't do it ALL himself. Robert Bacon has been playing guitar for Quik for years. someone as smart as Quik also knows when to get someone in to play something if they can do it better. you think he was playing the flute on Quik's Groove III? i'm not disputing that Dre has had help in the studio and even though i think he goes to far at times giving everyone within earshot a co producing credit, i'm sick of people saying he doesn't do anything as if they know this shyt for a fact. no hip hop producer can make hits & be in demand for 30+ years if they don't do shyt
