As official as it gets, ain't no p*ssy on his name, either. Had an iconic run in the early-to-mid 00s that had him as popular as anyone in rap, he's a legend for that...

This Trump shyt throwing me but he's a rap legend...

Does his producer Jay E get enough credit for the beats on Country Grammar alone??

That E.I. beat is still incredible to me.

Legend Murk?

I think we throw that term around too much. I get what you saying. But what did he do to push rap forward?

The most successful rapper ever from St. Louis with an undisputed ten year run. I think he has a CLAIM to legend status but its not undeniable. Country Grammar the album could be considered a classic and he’s got at least two undeniably classic singles (Country Grammar and Hot in Herre)

His sing-songy ladies man blueprint could be considered a precursor to the likes of Drake and Tory Lanez, which if we’re considering artists like them authentically hip hop (for better or worse) could be his aim to pushing rap “forward”

Nelly’s never going to be on anyone’s top ten list but he DID have skill, flow, and could write his ass off when it came to catchy hooks and choruses. Its a testament to his unique abilities that the likes of Eminem, whom white America dikk rode into the stratosphere, never wanted to go back and forth with him. 50 Cent, who LIVES for confrontation, fell back when Nelly checked him. He got one over on one of the genre’s greatest battle rappers in KRS One.

If Ja Rule can claim stake a claim at legend status then Nelly can

Nobody won that battle. That shyt was awful.
I agree but KRS embarrassed himself for going after nelly. The rapper who does nursery rhymes. No disrespect to Nelly because I was born and raised in St. Louis but hes not a battle rapper. KRS was weak for that. Nelly verse on roc the mic rmx, hurt KRS feelings and had a lot of people laughing at his ass.
Nelly funny as hell
