I just watched this on my flight

One thing I make sure to get right in my head….. We either getting there or dying. I’m ok with that before I board. Don’t even expect a crash and survive. Just get ready for a painless, quick death
That’s a good way to look at it.

Living and dying are a part of life. You were born. You will die. If you were ever in the military or a dangerous job then you realize that every one dies.

I found it weird that the guy was taping it.
As a physician I have seen 100s of people die but I still can’t fathom how people can watch videos of people dying :manny:

I used to visit my grandparents farm when I was a little kid. I saw animals die too. They wanted to live just like us humans. I felt bad for them when they were slaughtered. I realized then that everything that is born is going to die.

I am actually freaked out that the dude was actually filming his own potential death.

You shouldn’t be scared of flying… majority of crashes now are pilot error and the planes they flying usually old as fukk.. newer aircraft its damn near next to impossible to crash even on pilot error.. This plane that crashed is 30 years old.. Aircraft manufacturers have a 30 year warranty on the airframes.. after that you playing with fire.. That’s why if you notice majority of commercial aircraft Carriers update their fleet after the 15-20 year mark..
I'm also scared to fly, even though I know the safety of planes. It's one thing to intellectually understand something, and another when you're in a few tons of metal thousands of feet in the sky. Neverthless, I still fly. There are two types of people that are scared to fly:

A. Those that are and just don't do it.
B. Those that are but understand that it's safe intellectually, so go through the discomfort so they can see the world.

I just make sure I have some jack daniels before I get on the plane, and while I'm on and it helps to calm the nerves. I'm typically fine after take off when we're at cruising height. One thing to add regarding the safety of planes. I read that if the average car had to go through the type of inspections, maintenance and constant upgrading/replacement of parts as planes, it would last like 30 years.

Also, I only fly jumbo jets. fukk a small plane or helicopter.

I never been scared to fly a plane but I was once on a water plane running on propellers flying like 10000 feet in the damn clouds with 0 visibility and feeling every goddamn thing had me sweating and nervous. The plane must have been old as fukk too.

I dont think I could ever fly an asian or eastern europe airline.

Their safety standards ain't as rigid as the rest of the world.
Thing is they have American partners that might use them for a leg of the trip …so you might end up on one depending on where you’re going …

RIP

They were almost on the ground

I don’t understand it either but history has shown that people have always been okay with it. From kings and queens ordering public executions, people getting stoned to death in the Middle East, Mayan sacrifices, and public lynchings humans have always been okay with watching people die

Didn’t watch any videos; the descriptions of what occurred are enough for me.

Normally I’d had little issue watching for education purposes or genuine curiosity. But as someone who has never flown before, watching a POV plane crash video is a no-go. Especially right before bedtime :whoa:
