AT&T has released a statement saying they have always believed in open internet and nothing will change with how it is delivered now no matter what happens with FCC. :ehh:

If true. They gonna have the market circled. The other companies will have to follow suit or get boxed out.

Can You Make Your Own Internet? Where Does It Come From?

Except here in the U.S., they often don’t have that option. Existing ISPs have lobbied state governments to create laws that prevent startups from providing internet access in an area that is already served. This allows existing providers to have monopolies in many parts of the country. To show how much the game is rigged, these restrictions do not apply to existing companies. A city cannot compete with Verizon FiOS because it would qualify as a startup, but AT&T can come in and start laying down its own fiber if it so chooses.

So net neutrality regulations were just put into effect during the obama admin right? So what did we do before hand brehs? How did ISPs handle this before?

The government literally could not wait for the second scenario to actually happen, which is why net neutrality was passed in the first place. There's no way ISP's would try that in America, particularly with the government itching to regulate their asses. If it actually does happen, and it's negative overall thenI'll consider supporting NN. Until then, :camby:.

Yes, they would. The internet would literally become cable. People are saying this would never happen like it already hasn't happened on an analogous medium. The fact that T-Mobile did a package deal with Netflix shows that the ground work is already there for the ISPs as well. This is REALLY gonna hurt the gaming/streaming/esports industry. Because all AT&T would have to do at that point is purchase Twitch and make it a subscription model and BOOM a large cohort of streamer lose audience. Smaller tournaments can't afford the broadcast packages...its fukked.

And ya'll can forget about streaming porn....that's gonna be kaput too. Can you imagine how many spouces are gonna open up that Comcast e-mail or bill and see a $14.99/mo charge for PornHub access? :snoop:

Why liberals agendas be taking so many Ls?
It like they put all their energy behind tranny bathrooms.

Social issues are easier to mobilize because everyone is human and at some level can connect to them. But the liberal base has nowhere near the financial power of the right-wing oligarchs that actually make (pay for) substantive change. We literally had a recession because governments around the world were being paid off by Goldman Sachs execs and letting them have free reign over the Earth's economies. Only they have that amount of juice.
