Why did his coalition partners refuse to bargain with him? Is there some sort of power struggle in his party?

It is a bunch of parties that have some opposing interests since all they have in common are they are right wing. You have the gamut from secular conservatives like Lieberman's party (that crashed the coalition) to ultra-orthodox Jews who want to keep the military service exemption for ultra-orthodox Jews who want to devote themselves to religious studies to pro-Settler parties and even politicians who are just completely racist against Arabs as their platform.

The demands are so high because they know Netanyahu has to get this immunity bill. Lieberman's party (and other secular Jews across the spectrum) have long chafed that ultra-Orthodox don't have to do the 2-3 years service in the military as required of all youth. It is getting more of an issue because their high birth rate is increasing their share of the population. Back in the 1950s or so when the exemption started, they were a relatively small community. Lieberman demanded they all serve:ufdup:, the ultra-Orthodox parties were like :camby:and Netanyahu ended up being like:dead:since the coalition he ran with wouldn't agree to form a government. So they vote again.

Thanks for the information. At this point the military service should a matter of choice, I’ve never understood forced military service unless you had a extremely small population

Well, that unfortunately usually takes a war(s), economic collapse, or some other huge positive event so I am thinking this is going worse before it goes better.

You gotta break a few eggs to make an omelette. I understand.
